High quality natural rubber products.

The history of Sri Lanka’s rubber industry began way back in 1876 with the planting of rubber trees while took place in Henarathgoda. While the latex coming out from the rubber tree is used in the manufacture of various rubber products, even the timber is used, in treated form for producing furniture and other timber based products. The rubber industry generates employment to a vast number of people mainly from rural areas, where the estates are. Starting from the tapping of latex to, the manufacture of semi finished or semi processed rubber and products (primary products) and moving forward to the manufacturing of value added products combined with those involved in trading the rubber industry provides employment to around 200,000

Sri Lanka produces about 85000 metric tons of rubber annually, which is only 1.3% of the world’s production. Sri Lanka ranks around the 6th supplier of rubber to the world.

Usage

The industry produces a wide array of products ranging in size, shape, and purpose with this version of rubber. Industrial products concentrate mainly on items such as hoses, tubes, conveyor belts, auto parts and including solid tyres. Latex based products offer articles such as industrial, household, medical and surgical gloves and rubber thread. General rubber products include doormats, rubber bands, and sports goods etc. Footwear and footwear components are also products manufactured with natural rubber.
